Wow! What a night!
Wednesday around 10:00 a.m., Chad came home early from work because his abdomen was hurting around his belly button. It was a constant pain and he felt really bad. The weekend before, I had a virus of some sort with nausea and headache so he thought maybe he had a virus. Thursday he was feeling better, but still had the discomfort. The pain had moved more to the right. After talking with my Mom and SEVERAL other nurses and people who had appendix trouble we decided to go to Huntsville Hospital ER. We got there around 6:45 p.m. The wait wasn't long at all but it took a while to see a Dr., draw blood, do a scan, get the results and have the doctor talk with us again. So Chad and I got to spend 7 hours in uniterrupted conversation together. He wasn't feeling bad at the time so we enjoyed spending that time together. Chad's bloodwork came back in the high range of normal but the Dr. ordered the scan anyway. He definitely had acute appendicitis. They called the surgeon and she decided to come on in and within 10 minutes they had whisked him away to the operating room at 1:40 a.m. The surgery ended up taking an hour and a half because Chad's appendix was in a different position than most. The surgeon said she had to be really careful and take her time due to this. She said if they would have waited 24 hours, we may have had a mess on our hands because if it had ruptured she would have had to cut some of the bowel (I think?) to get to it and it would have been a lot worse. Through this, once again, Chad and I were able to see the power of God and were shown His mercy. We have also been blessed by family and friends who wanted to help in any way that they could. Praise God for good doctors, nurses, health, family, friends, and most of all for His goodness toward us last night. It was a long night with little cat naps here and there, but we were able to leave the hospital by 11:00 a.m. It was a whirlwind of a night! Tonight he is doing well, but very sore. He is being a real trooper!

praying for a quick recovery for Chad! Appendicitis is such a weird thing...when it hits you it is so sudden. Glad you guys were able to catch it in time and that he is doing well.
