Christmas Spirit

December 1st, we began getting into the Christmas spirit with the Christmas parade.  We always enjoy the parade with Mimi and Grandaa.

Then, on December 8th, we had our church cookie swap at April's house.  We had such a good time and enjoyed a lot of yummy cookies.

Friday was Cana's 7th birthday and we had her party that night at Onyx Gym.  More on that in a later post.  On Saturday, my family met up and went Christmas tree hunting for Mom and Dad's tree.  This was an experience!!  This is the one we ended up picking after walking, and walking, and walking....

It's a little large, isn't it?  Well, the farm we usually go to had slim pickings this year.  The older man that owns it had been sick and had not been able to trim them.  So we had to choose from two extremes....little bitty ones such as this...

or huge giant ones such as these...

The tree we chose was around 12 feet tall- so they cut off the top...which reminded me of the children's book Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree (which is an excellent book by the way-my kids LOVE it)...and they trimmed up the sides.  When Mama saw it she LOVED it!  We just all laughed thinking how bad it looked to begin with.  But she said that when she was little...they just picked a tree from the woods and didn't trim it.  So I guess it reminded her of her childhood!  Here's Canie-bug with her new hat Ju-Ju bought her for her birthday.

Saturday night was the ABS Winter Musical.  Colton's kindergarten class had to be pieces of candy.  I really am hoping that Colton doesn't hurt me later for probably making him feel like Ralphie and his bunny suit in "A Christmas Story."

Arden, Hannah, and Cana sang Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in the talent show.  When the paper came to enter the talent show...I threw if away knowing that Cana wouldn't ever want to enter it.  BUT she came home later wanting to sing with her friends.  They did a great job and I was so proud that she got up in front of a big crowd and sang.  She even said she wanted to enter it again!
