Athens 8U All Stars

The Athens 8U All Stars had a great season!  They came in runner-up in pre-area 1.  Then they won the Pre-area 2 tournament.  They came in third in the Area and was able to go to State in Birmingham.  They ended up tying with Hartselle Black for 5th in the State!  I was so proud of these girls.

 The little brothers had so much fun playing together.  They will miss seeing each other almost everyday.

 In Birmingham, at the State tournament....we had some down time on Friday.  We played and won 2 games Thursday night and didn't play until 3:00 on Friday.  So some of the girls went to see Monsters University...

 We ended up losing the next game and it sent us to battling in the Loser's bracket.  So after that game we came back to the hotel for a swim.

 Ready for playing all day on Saturday.  We ended up winning the first two games and lost to Pell City in the third game.  It was a long and HOT day!!  The girls were just done playing!  The day before, their head coach collapsed on the field due to heat exhaustion/ dehydration and had to be taken to the hospital.  I can't imaging playing a ballgame in that heat!

 Cana played outfield and a little third in the first 2 tournaments.  The last area tournament and State tournament she played circle.  She had never played this position before and I thought she did and AWESOME job at it.  (Proud Mama) In the first game of state, she had 11 balls hit at/near her and she had 10 outs!
